Jacquie Lavin, MMedSci, PhD, RNutr
Head of Nutrition and Research
Jacquie has a masters degree in Human Nutrition and completed a PhD in 1998. She manages Slimming World’s Nutrition and Research team, whose activities include providing nutrition advice, developing partnerships with the public health sector and co-ordination of internal and external weight management research.
Amanda Avery BSc (Hons), RD (University of
Surrey, 1981-85)
Consultant Dietitian in Weight Management
Amanda initially joined Slimming World, on a part-time basis, after project managing the Slimming World on Referral feasibility study. She worked in Southern Derbyshire for over 20 years as a community dietitian, with both a public health remit and as a clinician working in primary care, before moving to Nottingham University in 2009 as a lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics. Whilst previously helping to develop the Slimming World on Referral programme Amanda’s remit at Slimming World now focuses on helping to establish a growing body of evidence to support the role of commercial slimming organisations in providing weight management services.
Jenny Allan, MSc, APHNutr
Nutritionist
Jenny joined Slimming World in October 2008 with a masters in Public Health Nutrition. She works with the nutrition team helping to check all health and nutrition based literature published by Slimming World. In addition, she has a key role in reviewing the latest literature and guidelines on weight management and nutrition to ensure that Slimming World’s policies and advice to members are always at the forefront of current nutrition research.
James Stubbs, BSc, PhD
Research Specialist
James joined Slimming World in 2006 as Research Officer after 13 years at the Rowett Research Institute, working on award-winning research into the behavioural factors governing energy balance and weight. James manages Slimming World’s involvement in pan-European research programme Diogenes, which aims to advance understanding of how obesity can be prevented and treated.
Carolyn Pallister, BSc (Hons), RD
Dietitian and Referral Scheme Manager
Carolyn joined Slimming World in 2006 having graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University with a first in Dietetics. She is responsible for developing and managing the Slimming World on Referral service, while also continuing to support the Nutrition department.
Sue Gibson
Business Development Manager
Sue has worked in health managed services since 1996. She is currently the District Manager for the South Lancashire area but also continues to support the growth and development of Slimming World on Referral to support weight management partnerships with health professionals and the NHS.

Josie Duncan
Referral Scheme Co-ordinator
Josie joined Slimming World in September 2008 and she supports a number of NHS Slimming World on Referral schemes to ensure patients receive effective, lasting support for weight loss. In addition to liaising between the NHS and the Field to make sure the referral process is as smooth as possible, she’s responsible for recording the latest data and using it to compile clear and accurate reports.
Glen Lynam
Referral Data Co-ordinator
Glen currently supports a number of NHS Slimming World on Referral schemes. Her role involves managing a number of referral schemes data and preparing and presenting the collected data to ensure the NHS schemes receive all of the information they require.
Lou Barlow
Referral Scheme Co-ordinator (covering maternity leave)
Lou is responsible for supporting a number of NHS Slimming World on Referral schemes as well as coordinating Slimming World’s workplace schemes. Her role also includes organising the teams participation in health conferences and events.
